DSC 24 Channel Logging

Version 1.3.2  2023

What Does It Do?

This software release for Windows allows up to 24 DSC, DCell or DSCUSB* modules to be viewed and logged to a CSV file. You can configure the number of channels, communications settings, main title and the channel descriptions and these configurations can be saved and loaded at any time.

With this software you can:

  •  View data from up to 24 DSC, DCell or DSCUSB* modules
  •  Configure the number of channels, log interval, display resolution etc
  •  Log data to CSV file for easy viewing in MS Excel
  •  Works with ASCII or MantraBus protocols and USB versions

*NOTE: Different combinations of computer, USB ports, hubs and extenders may reduce the number of DSCUSB devices that can be connected to a computer and therefore the total number of available channels may be less than 24.

FSU Toolkit

Version 01.03

The FSU Toolkit software for Windows will allow connection with the FSU module via a USB port and does not require external power supply as they appear as a ‘single unit load’ i.e. they draw <100mA.

Appropriate USB drivers must be installed which are automatically installed with the FSU Toolkit software.

What does it do?

The FSU Toolkit is a configuration and analytical tool designed specifically for configuring FSU modules. This toolkit allows configuration, calibration, data recording and review and parameter management of the modules.

Watch our short video tutorial which runs through the software's powerful features and functionality.

The Toolkit communicates with a single module at a time and provides the following:

  •  Viewing of input with indication of integrity errors.
  •  Two point auto calibration by application of known weight.
  •  Two point table calibration from load cell calibration certificate.
  •  Setting System Zero.
  •  Engineering unit selection.
  •  Save module settings including user calibration and ability to restore to same or different USB FSU modules.
  •  Capture up to 30 minutes of data at 4800 Hz. Save data to CSV file. Navigate up to 30 minutes of data captured from the FSU or loaded from a previously saved CSV file.
  •  Trend chart view of live input. Exportable image and data.
  •  FFT view to identify frequency components of input signal and detect patterns
  •  Simple oscilloscope view for wave based signals between 1 Hz and 500 Hz.
  •  Easily switch to alternative engineering units (If module has been previously calibrated)

Fast USB Strain Module (FSU-SSB)

Datasheet
Manual

Description

The FSU-SSB is a fast, compact, high precision strain bridge input module delivering high resolution readings over USB and communicated directly to a PC. It is aimed at dynamic applications that require high speed measurement.

It delivers high speed measurements of 4800 samples per second at 13 bits noise free resolution.

Simply by plugging the USB strain device into a PC, data can be measured from a sensor using the FSU-SSB for a wide range of high speed systems.  This is achieved using the powerful Toolkit software, which has been developed in-house by our design engineers to provide optimised, fast viewing of data.

It allows the viewing of input status and module information, simple switching between engineering units as well as two part calibration, high speed navigation and FFT frequency component analysis. Data can be exported to a CSV file.

This free-standing module is fitted with 9-way ‘D’ type socket for connection to the strain bridge or load cell while a micro USB socket allows connection to a PC and does not require external power. A DIN rail mounting option is also available.

For lower speed applications, the DSCUSB, which can log up to 100 samples per second, would be a suitable solution.

Features

  •  Simple USB 'Plug and Measure' device connects directly to a PC, allowing quick setup
  •  High speed measurements at 4800 samples per second
  •  13 bit noise free resolution allows greater accuracy
  •  Ideal for impact, drop, non-rotational torque, vibration and materials testing
  •  Easy connection to intuitive, powerful FSU Toolkit software - view the tutorial video
  •  Extremely low temperature drift provides accuracy of measurement over a wide temperature range
  •  Simple connection to sensor using 9 way D-type
  •  Input sensitivity of ±3 mV/V making it suitable for most strain bridge sensors - alternative input sensitivities available on request
  •  Works in tension and compression
  •  Drive capability for up to four 350 Ohm sensors
  •  Supplied with micro USB cable
  •  Factory mV/V calibration, user calibration in engineering units
  •  Branded options available

Strain Gauge to USB Converter (DSCUSB)

Datasheet
Standard Manual
Advanced Manual

Description

The DSCUSB strain gauge to USB converter is a compact, high performance strain gauge digital signal conditioner with USB connectivity aimed at applications which require high-accuracy measurement repeatability.

A rugged ABS IP50 enclosure makes this USB load cell converter suitable for all environments. Simply by plugging the DSCUSB into a PC, data can be extracted from most strain gauge bridge input sensors and acquired by software which allows data manipulation removing the need for amplifiers, filters & multimeters. No additional power supply is required as the power is drawn from the USB bus.

The strain gauge to USB converter (DSCUSB) is ideal for one to one interface, however you can connect multiple DSCUSB's to the same PC/Laptop via a suitable hub

Ideal for all strain gauge bridge based sensors including load, weight, force, torque, pressure & displacement, the device simply plugs into your PC where data can be acquired and manipulated by accompanying software.

Typical applications for the DSCUSB USB load cell signal converter will be those requiring simple sensor connectivity in desk top settings such as test & measurement, R&D and laboratory environments.

An optional temperature sensor module (DTEMP) is available which will enable an advanced 5-point temperature compensation of measurements.

The USB load cell signal converter is also available as OEM pcb modules - please see product sheet for more information. A 4.5mV/V version of this device is also available.
