When a California municipality needed reliable level measurement of their sodium hypochlorite storage tanks, they turned to Flowline. To get a head start on disinfection, the city injects bleach into lift stations that transfer wastewater to their treatment plant. A highly corrosive and vaporous disinfectant, bleach is difficult to measure, and it notoriously corrodes fluid handling equipment. As a result, the operators had experienced problems with several different types of level sensors. For this reason, Flowline suggested the use of our non-contact ultrasonic sensors with rugged, corrosion resistant PVDF transducers. The ultrasonic sensor provides continuous level data to the tank indicator and SCADA system, which in turn monitors the inventory and alarms for bleach replenishment.
